BALANCED LITERACY UNIT ON WEATHER
The use of thematic instruction enables the teacher to creatively integrate various authentic texts and resources that aim to support students in exploring a specific topic all while utilizing materials on their specific reading level and area of interest. Thinking critically as a teacher allows me to come up with a myriad of activities for my students to understand a topic in a way that is fun and informational to them. While working on a shared reading plan I was able to find unique ways to facilitate lessons based upon alphabet knowledge, phonological awareness, analogizing words, and sight words.
